“Lord, send out Your Spirit and Renew
the Face of the Earth.“

CCFMC News Pentecost 2017.

We are living in apocalyptical times. In a world that seems to have become unsettles. We are experiencing terror, persecution and displacement, as well as the isolation of the wealthy from the vast number of refugees, who have fled their countries due to war, poverty and environmental issues. Pope Francis calls it a “A piecemeal World War.“

In a haunting way, Fr. Hadrian addresses this issue in our current CCFMC News. Indeed, only God can help us, as the Pentecost message clearly states: “Lord, send out Your Spirit and Renew the Face of the Earth!“

As the worldwide Franciscan Family, we have accepted a special responsibility. Francis and Clare of Assisi have asked their Brothers and Sisters to obey the following simple formula: “pace e bene“ – Peace and All Good. This term describes what Jesus’ liberating message of the Kingdom of God wants to tell us: justice, peace, integrity of creation, charity instead of the isolation on an “Island of the Blessed”. The Comprehensive Course on Franciscan Mission Charism is a global training program which, again and again, can help us to be aware of and prepared for this task.

In the Pentecost issue of the CCFMC News, we are reporting about moving examples from Asia, Africa and Latin America. We can draw courage from these reports – and the CCFMC-Team hopes that you will do so.

We are used to thinking of the Church as our mother, as holy, as a "perfect society" and as the guardian of eternal truth. Sexual abuse and financial scandals have shaken this idealistic image. We are a bruised Church, "hurting and dirty". Yet, her source of life, Jesus Christ, is "always young", a steady source of new life, always renewing her faithful. Pope Francis invites us break our "dull categories" with "the original freshness of the Gospel" and begin to become a "Church which goes forth".
